Beauty: Define Your Own
"You have to define your own beauty when this world is wrong about you."
This topic has been on my mind since I recently saw some old pics of someone who is deemed to be
beautiful by the media. I must say I was surprised as I just didn't know that she looked different back
then from she does now. The pics convinced me that she had quite a bit of work done on her face and
body. That has me thinking about what really is beautiful. If a surgically enhanced face is seen as
beautiful, why are some natural faces being called unattractive? Why is fake appearance being lauded
over a natural appearance? This is when I concluded that we each have to define our own beauty. We
simply can't sit back and let this world tell us that our looks is 'less than" while it extols the looks of
people who got theirs from a surgeon's scalpel.
I'm not against those people who get work done on themselves. If that makes you feel better about
your appearance then it's your right to do it. I just don't think the appearance of a natural beauty
should have to defer to that of one who used surgery to acquire hers. Our society places a lot of
emphasis on our physical appearance. Even when we groom ourselves well, we still may get criticisms
about our weight or facial features. This is when we have to shun the naysayers and look within at
who we are which can then lead us to find our external beauty. Be your own kind of beautiful!
